After the Antique: A 19th century Italian carved white marble bust fragment of the young Augustus Probably after a model by Augustus Saint Gaudens (Irish-French, 1848-1907) and possibly attributable to the Chiurazzi workshop, Naples Facing to sinister on a moulded circular veined brown marble socle base, overall: 44cm (17in) high Footnotes: For a comparable marble bust see Christies, South Kensington, The Decorative Arts Sale, 4 April 2012, lot 35. Condition Report Some scratches and marks throughout, with a larger chip to the left ear. The marble is dirty. The base with wear and an area of loss to the left-hand side.
