Item Details
Description
Patek Philippe Rare 18k Pocket Watch Commemorating The 1936 Berlin Olympics by Masriera y Carreras. Case: 48mm, 18k, four piece hinged case, #281923 Dial: white enamel dial with black enamel numbers and track, with pitched dauphine hands Movement: Patek Philippe 15 jewel movement #182086 Signed: dial, case and movement signed by PP inner case cover engraved: Masriera y Carreras Barcelona Intriguing and possibly unique timepiece commemorating the 1936 Berlin Olympics, most notable for Jesse Owens putting the host country in an uncomfortable position no less then four times. The Patek Philippe serial numbers indicates the movement was produced in approximately 1919 suggesting the piece was either sold prior to the 1936 Olympics and embellished by the renowned and celebrated enameller Masriera y Carreras, at the time of the Olympics for a private client or an early movement, gathering dust in the stock drawer, that was put to use by the fairly new owners of Patek Philippe, The Stern Family, to be sold and then embellished by a client. In either case, an incredible piece of Olympic memorabilia. Note: according to a recent enquiry the Patek Philippe Archive department states Extract cannot be issued for the timepiece.
