A FINE AND RARE CASED SET OF GEORGE II SILVER TEA CADDIES AND SUGAR BOX, LONDON, 1755, PIERRE GILLOIS
the 18th century Georgian set comprising a pair of caddies and a slightly larger sugar box all of bombe form the bodies engraved with an eagle, with fruit and bird finials and on four shell and C scroll feet, all hallmarked for London, 1755 with PG maker's mark, fitted in a sarcophagus shaped, shagreen caddy on four silver claw and ball feet, with silver swing handle and matching escutcheon and eagle mount, the interior with red velvet lining to the three compartments, 735 grams (24 oz troy) in weight,
the largest caddy 13cm high, the box 17cm high x 28cm wide
