TANIGAMI KONAN (1879–1928) was a disciple of Matsunoshi Suzuki, a master of the Kyoto art world, and developed a unique field of painting of flowers and birds. He later became active as a dyeing and weaving designer and was one of the founders of the Osaka Design Association in 1925. In the early Taisho period,he published volumes of rare flowers from Europe and the United of ornamental flowers in woodblock form with printer Geisodo. Over 160 Western flowers are depicted in a total of 125 illustrations, making this a unique collection of large, colorful flowers.
