Description: Thomas Parker, the first Earl of Macclesfield, was tried in the House of Peers for serious crimes and misdemeanors. Following his impeachment by the Knights, the assembled citizens and burgesses in Parliament declared their intention to act in the best interests of all the Commons of Great Britain. started on May 6th, 1725, and proceeded through various adjournments until May 27th in the same month. Published by the House of Peers' order. London: Printed by Sam Buckley for the King, 1725. Full leather folio 284 pages, 9 by 13.5" in size. first printing. the well-known trial in the House of Lords of a George I favored person who was also Lord Chancellor starting in 1718. Parker was found guilty of his crimes and sentenced to 30 years in prison in the Tower until the payment of thirty thousand pounds was paid to the king, which was to be given to the suitors. Excellent inside quality save from a few blemishes on the last page. There are tiny missing bits of leather and the binding is worn. Featuring an Edward Davenport bookplate from the 18th century on the front pastedown with English text.
