From 1914 he took part in exhibitions of the Vienna Secession and remained a member until 1937. He then joined the Vienna Kuenstlerhaus. Numerous exhibitions in Austria and neighboring countries earned him honorable awards, including: the Prize of the City of Vienna in 1940 or the large gold medal of honor from the Kuenstlerhaus in 1963. In 1983, Heinrich Krause died in Vienna at the age of 98, almost deaf and blind. Portraits play an important role in Krause's work.
