Item Details
Description
third quarter 19th century, 187 x 99 cm, East Caucasus, Kuba

A rare small-format sumakh. Five diamond-shaped medallions are aligned on the central axis of the red field, while pairs of palmettes in varying shapes and sizes are arranged along the sides. The two pinwheel designs stand out among the additional designs. The characteristic border design indicates that the sumakh belongs to the Zeikhur group.

Good condition, original finishes all around.
