Description
A tie-dye ensemble, dyed by The Lovin' Spoonful founder, John Sebastian.
The long-sleeved cotton velour top features a pink, purple, orange, yellow, blue, and green tie-dye pattern, with a boat neckline, labeled "Max Hurni," size 40. The flare pants feature an orange and yellow tie-dye striped pattern, labeled "Landlubber," no size present.
The ensemble was dyed, c. late 1960s- early 1970s, at the 46-acre artistic community near Studio City called "The Farm." At The Farm, Sebastian was nicknamed "guitar fingers" due to his tight grip on his fabric (strength gained from playing the guitar) during the tie-dye process.
According to Sebastian, the pants were worn on stage by him, c. early 1970s.
