Item Details
Description
A 1950s Herbert Todt archtop guitar in a light orange finish. Owned and played by Randy Bachman, who has sold 40 million records worldwide as a member of The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and as a solo artist. From his huge collection of German archtop guitars, meticulously assembled over a period of 30-plus years.

Herbert Todt was idely regarded as one of the most skilled luthiers operating out of East Germany at the time this guitar was produced. Todt’s work is typically characterized by master craftsmanship, elaborate inlay work, and excellent tone, though we have a less ostentatious example here.

A 7-piece maple neck with Deco white and black headstock overlay, six black-button tuners (one button missing) laminated white-black-white nut, zero fret. Bound 18-fret rosewood fretboard with triangular mother of pearl inlays on the bass side of the board. Carved spruce top, flame maple back and sides, multi-ply black binding throughout. Bound split sound holes, trapeze tailpiece, adjustable bridge. Appears to be refinished.

Includes hardshell case.
