Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, St. Petersburg, period of Alexander I, circa 1820
Circular, centering a transfer printed and painted view of Gatchina Palace, after the engraving by Ivan Cheskii and the original painting by Sylvester Shchedrin, within a gilt cavetto, the border decorated with a continuous band of iron red flower heads and gilt scrolling vines, with a gilt and iron red rim, the reverse with an identifying inscription in Russian. Diameter 9 1/2 inches (24 cm.).

The present plate is one of a series with views of St. Petersburg and its environs from print sources which was produced by the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory circa 1814-1825.
