Item Details
Description
Cal. 44 HRF. S# 2170. Bbl. 24 1/4", octagon with integral 15-round magazine tube. Bbl. shroud rotates for loading. German silver blade front sight with added brass V-notch rear sight in dovetail; receiver dovetail is open. Brass frame with lever latch. The lower tang is stamped "W." Walnut stock with an early-style rounded heel brass buttplate has an inletted sling swivel on the left side. The left inside of the lower tang and inside toe of the buttplate, along with the top tang channel of the stock, are stamped with the matching serial number "2170." Stock and buttplate screws are also stamped with matching numbers. Approximately 14,000 Henry rifles were manufactured in 1860–66. The Henry rifle was considered revolutionary during the Civil War. CONDITION: very nice rifle. The brass action and buttplate exhibit a natural light patina. Bbl., magazine tube, hammer, and lever have faded to brown. The breech end of the bbl. has a series of dents on the side flats. The stock appears to be unsanded and has a good fit to the metal, having a dark, aged appearance and showing some handling marks. Good mechanics. The dark, lightly pitted bore has lightly worn, intact rifling. (01-24320/DS). ANTIQUE. $20,000-30,000.
