Dai Jin, Landscape, Hanging scoll. Dai Jin (1388-1462), courtesy name Wenjin, also known as Jing'an and a native of Yuquan Mountain. A native of Qiantang (now Hangzhou, Zhejiang), he was a painter of the Ming Dynasty. In his early years, he was a craftsman of gold and silver jewelry, and later switched to calligraphy and painting. During the Xuande period (1426-1435), paintings were dedicated to the inner court, and the official Zhiren Hall was waiting for imperial edicts. Later, he was released due to slander and wandered around the world.He is good at painting landscapes, figures, flowers and birds, and Cordyceps. Ma Yuan and Xia Gui, masters of landscape painting, still adhered to the old methods in their middle age, but in their later years they ventured off the beaten track and became a distinguished family. The paintings are majestic and bold, lush and thick, the brush strokes are straight and firm, the characters are drawn with skillful brushwork, and the grace is enhanced in the pauses and setbacks; the flowers, birds, and cordyceps are also very popular. He is the originator of "Zhejiang School of Painting". His works include "Green Mountains in Spring", "Returning to the Boat after Storm", "Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage", "Portrait of Bodhidharma to the Sixth Generation of Huineng", etc.
