CANADA 1838 Bank of British North America Receipts Used

Issued to the Humble George Pemberton (1795-1868) for the purchase of 30 Bank Shares at the Quebec Branch in Nov. 1838, at a cost of 5 Pounds each. This transaction was done in the second year of this bank's existence! The 2nd note is issued to Henry or Harry Pemberton Esquire for the purchase of 10 notes dated what looks like 21 Sept. 1840. The manager who signed the notes went on to be the Bank's General Manager (see Canada Banks manager's list dated 1864) Should be considered Unique and RRR.187 x 115 mm.torn from a book by the look of the top edge, some tears and folds but in really great condition for the age. More research required.
