Very Rare! Antique 19th century quilt with Antique Deerfield Embroidery measures 87 by 104 inches. The quilt is has a center field with recycled linen pieces with hand embroidered Deerfield embroidery. The center measures 62x64", with additional sections of embroidery in the 4 corners. It is hand embroidered, hand pieced, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished knife edge style, by hand. I believe the embroidered part of the textiles are much earlier than the quilt, possibly mid to late 18th century. The condition is poor with overall toning, spots, and overall wear, deterioration, and splits in the off white fabric as well as portions of the embroidered ground fabric, tear in the border, and hole in the center. Textiles like this are very rare and often only found in museums. This is definitely worth saving for the future and for study purposes. From a New York Collector.
